Nicaragua Matagalpa is March's Coffee of the Month

This month's featured coffee is our Nicaragua Matagalpa.  Grown on the hillsides of Matagalpa, this coffee is a product of a small community dedicated to the production of incredibly high quality coffee with an emphasis on self sufficiency and ecological sustainability. The name comes from an age-old nickname; local people refer to this particular mountainside as La Zona del Oro, or the zone of gold. The estate's coffee grows in rich, volcanic hillside soils beneath the shade of banana trees. Interspersed throughout the plantation are community garden plots growing cabbage, passion fruit, bananas and other produce for consumption by the workers and their families.  Look for a tasting notes that very subtly reflect this fertility.  Pick up a tin this month for $1 off!
